Winter Fall

Oh, how the winter nights fall,

Swiftly and without delay,

She, who sees me, content in all

I smile and she runs away,

Stop I shout, not wanting her to leave

But still she runs, unrelenting in her escape

My feet begin to ache, her pace not easily achieved

Soon she is gone, and I beaten down by fate

Grasping at the scene, her trail now fading

Why must you leave? My soul, it’s heart, now suddenly breaking

Like the snowflakes that fall, gently to the ground

You come and go as if we seem profound,

Such beauty is fleeting, such grace unrelenting

Every touch of pure freezing, is met with a warmth neverending

So to you, my love, my angel, my light

Please return again, and keep me in sight

I crave your affection, your love is so dear

Please don’t make me wait, so long is my year.
